Shouldn’t there be more of these out there?
By “these” I mean Japanese turn based strategy games for the DS. With the system having all but consumed the market in Japan and still burning up the charts over here, you’d think that we’d have seen more of these kinds of games on our shores. I could be wrong, but “Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth Remix” is probably the first of its kind to make it to this system in the States. That’s definitely good for the game itself, since it’ll be judged a bit more forgivingly by its target audience. While I can’t say that the game needs every bit of help it’ll get, it’ll certainly tide people over well enough until something better comes along.

The PS3 is getting a pretty exciting update this week! Compared to last week at least… Yesterday we received firmware 1.82 update which addresses AVC files for multimedia playback and today we got a bunch of new trailers and a new demo! Probably the most notable addition to the PSN is the new trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV in HD(see our previous article)! In addition to a couple of new movie trailers we finally got a new demo! Dynasty Warriors: GUNDAM(Gundam Musou in Japan)! Lastly Super Stardust HD is finally available for purchase! Go get it!

Ultimate Baseball Online 2007 (UBO), the world’s only massively multiplayer online sports game (MMOSG) for baseball, today announced it is hosting its first Firecracker Invitational Tournament, pitting the best UBO teams from the East and the Western parts of the United States. The Firecracker Invitational will start on Monday, July 2, 2007 and continue till Wednesday, July 13, 2007. The three teams finishing first in the Major, All-Star, and Elite divisions will receive automatic bids to the Best of UBO 2007 Tournament.

In an attempt to bring the producers and the end-users closer together, Harmonix, infamous creators of the Guitar Hero series, has posted a small questionnaire on their official website allowing players to suggest songs for their upcoming co-op musical rhythm game Rock Band.
Harmonix has not specified the degree to which user input will affect the final song list, or whether it has secured any contracts with specific music labels in order to better facilitate and meet consumer demand. However, given the immense popularity that the game has garnered over its last two installments it shouldn’t be difficult for the ground-breaking developer to bring dollar-signs to the eyes of any prospective sponsor.

If any of you Xbox 360 owners are looking for more Final Fantasy action following the 360s ported version of Final Fantasy XI, then I’m afraid you’re going to have to invest in a different next-gen system. A Square Enix executive has revealed to Japan’s Nikkei BP that the company currently has no intentions of releasing Final Fantasy games on the 360 console. Due to the PS3 receiving Final Fantasy XIII, the website went on to ask Square Enix’s Shinji Hashimoto whether or not the Wii or Xbox 360 would be receiving any Final Fantasy love. Hashimoto replied that FF Crystal Chronicles is being developed for the Wii, but as for the Xbox 360, nothing is on the horizon.

Honestly, there are no words to describe how crazy this trailer is aside from saying it seems to be a deep profound video meditation on the eternal struggle between President and Vice President. With giant robots.

Unfortunately, From Software (possibly rightly) figured that this game was just too awesome for our fragile American sensibilities and would’ve caused Too Much of that pesky happiness.

During this year’s E3 2007, Nintendo have something BIG to announce at the show, and I’m not talking about games. Apparently, the mighty N, will have “grosse révélation au niveau Hardware” (big hardware news) along with a look at Mario Kart for the Wii and Super Mario Galaxy (amongst others). What the big hardware revelation could be is anyone’s guess so, for the time being, keep this one tagged as rumor.
