PSP-3000 Official

At the Leipzig Games Convention, the new PSP-3000 model was made official. It will contain a built-in mic and an improved screen with improved refresh rate and an anti-glare feature to make it easier to view while outside.

The new PSP-3000 will be included in the upcoming Rachet & Clank: Size Matters “Entertainment Pack” alongside National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets on UMD, a voucher to download Echochrome, and a 1GB memory stick.  The pack will retail for $199.99 and is set to ship on October 15.

A new PSP 4GB Entertainment Pack will also be coming soon including a Piano Black PSP-3000,  a 4GB memory stick, and a voucher to download Everyday Shooter.  The pack will also retail for $199.99 and is set to ship in November.

The new MTV UMDs have been spotted to be carrying an “ALL” region label instead of the usual region number. Could this mean Sony is opting to make future releases also region free? If so, this is good news for those that bought imported PSPs and suffered because of region coded UMDs.

PSP Skype Postponed In Japan

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan announced that they will be postponing the launch of their Skype microphone packs for the PSP. The postponement is apparently due to the official microphones not meeting with standards set by Skype. In turn, the launch of the Skype service itself will also be postponed until a solution is decided.

Ignition Partners With Marvelous To Bring Out Classic Arcade Titles

Ignition Entertainment, a worldwide developer and publisher of interactive software, announced that it has entered into a long-term partnership with Japanese publisher Marvelous Entertainment to bring many of its cult classic arcade games to North America. The first games the companies will partner on include: Bubble Bobble Double Shot for Nintendo DS™, New Zealand Story Revolution for Nintendo DS™ and Rainbow Island Evolution for PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system.
