Silent Hill Comes Home With Free Gifts

Silent Hill Homecoming arrives in stores for the PS3 and Xbox 360.  Depending on where you pick it up, you’ll also receive a free gift with purchase: Best Buy, GameStop, and GameCrazy are offering Silent Hill (film) DVDs while CircuitCity is offering a Pyramid Head keychain.

DDR Celebrates 10th Anniversary

In commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the Dance Dance Revolution franchise,  Konami releases three new titles, two of which come out this week.  This week’s titles are DDR X for PS2 and DDR Hottest Party 2 for Nintendo Wii.  DDR Universe 3 for Xbox 360 will be released one month later on October 14th.  Each will be available in both stand-alone and bundle forms.

Silent Hill, Rock Revolution

Trailer for Silent Hill: Homecoming shown. Main character is looking for a boy named Josh. But everyone in the town is gone. The boy claims to be the key, the answer to something big. “Find me and everything changes.” Coming Soon.

Homecoming will feature a free-roaming camera, 8-way strafe. Weapons can be used to shoot objects in the environment. First person mode availalbe to look up close for picking up items. Transition from normal world to hell state happens during the game, more thatrical experience. Choice system in dialogue tree. Learn more about the characters, location, may affect the outcome of the game. Transition from dialogue trees and cinematic scenes is seamless.

One of the bosses in the game is shown. There are optional tasks to complete in the battle. You can attack the hanging meat sacks, take them out and the center boss will fall down. When boss hands get stuck in the ground, his head will go down and you can attack the back of the head.

Rock Revolution. Will be the ultimate rock game for all musician gamers. Emphasis on the drum peripheral. Local band performs Blitzkrieg Bop, followed by in-game demonstration of the same song. Game is demonstrated alongside a Guitar Hero III Gibson controller (?).

Castlevania Order of Ecclesia, Judgment

Castlevania creator takes the stage. Order of Ecclesia for the Nintendo DS. Trailer is shown. Characters are introduced: Shanoa, Albys, Barlowe. New lightning, ice, and sword attacks, as well as an ability to transform is shown. Available Fall 2008.

Castlevania Judgment for the Nintendo Wii. Different gameplay than traditional Castlevania game. Rather than a fighting game, they prefer to call it a 3D versus action game. Trailer is shown. Characters shown: Simon Belmont, Dracula, Alucard, Maria Renard. Characters from the Castlevania series go Head-to-head. Available Fall 2008.

You can run around 360 degrees. There is a character that is trying to destroy the Castlevania timeline. So the characters from the different past Castlevanias are drawn in and pitted to fight against each other. 14 playable characters.

Gameplay shown. Nunchuck is used to move the character around: Z for block, C for jump, shake for dodge. Shaking Wii Remote for main attack.  For character shown, this is the Whip Attack. If you hold the B button down and shake, it’ll be a strong attack. Different combinations of button press, standing still or moving, can be used for different attacks. A button activates the sub-weapon. Hold the A button down, charges and does an item crusher attack. Can use objects in the environment to attack the enemy. Depending on character you can carry different types of items, candlestick for example. Blue gauge at the bottom, once filled allows for a super attack. In some stages, enemies from the background may come in and attack you or your opponent.

Konami Conference Starts

Konami is glad with the positive response recieved for Metal Gear Solid 4.  Expansion to Metal Gear Online coming soon.  World Tournament to take place during Tokyo Game Show to find out who is the best Metal Gear Online Team.  During Comic-Con will be the First Live Online Tournament for Metal Gear Online.

Rock Revolution.  Linkin Park Tour, Rock / Karaoke / Dance Dance Revolution will be official video games traveling with the tour.  Tour will start Tomorrow.

Silent Hill.  Homecoming coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.  New level will be demonstrated.

Elebits launched with the Wii.  A New Elebits will be coming to DS.  Lost in Blue Wii announced.

Castlevania Judgment and Order of Ecclasia will also be shown.  All games shown today will be playable on the show floor.

Konami Sues Harmonix For Rock Band

Konami is suing Harmonix over the violation of patents, issued in 2002 and 2003, that relate to simulated musical instruments, a music-game system, and a “musical-rhythm matching game.” Konami is asking for cash compensation and an order to block use of such inventions.

Konami Announces Rock Revolution

Konami announces their entry into the multiple instrument music genre, Rock Revolution. Like the other games on the market, this game will allow for drums, bass, and lead guitar. Interesting enough, on top of being set to release on the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3, the game will also be released on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii, each with their own distinctive features.

Metal Gear Online Beta Postponed

Due to the mass amount of traffic over the weekend, Konami has been unable to run the service to the level they wanted. As a temporary measure, they plan to stabilize their JPN servers first before letting it loose on the rest of the world. Expected new start date is now Friday, April 25th.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Demo Coming!

According to the latest Kojima Productions Report Podcast , the team is currently working on an English demo for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots!  Also mentioned in the podcast… Ryan Payton confirmed that the rumble feature in the Dual Shock 3 is superior to the one in the Dual Shock 2.  Payton also mentioned that next week both the TGS MGS4 and Metal Gear Solid Online trailers should hit the PSN!
