Capcom recently announced that their upcoming Street Fighter IV will see a release on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft and Windows based PCs. The granddaddy of the genre is finally back! The arcade release is still scheduled for July of this year with the console release date showing up on GameStop’s site as February 2009. Looks like we still have quite some time to wait! This week’s Famitsu magazine has the first details about ATLUS’ latest installment in the Persona series, Persona 4 for the PlayStation 2! Taking a similar visual cue from Persona 3, the game features about 1.5 times the amount of play time from Persona 3 and a much different atmosphere compared to the city setting of the last game. Famitsu has unveiled the latest major revision to the Virtua Fighter franchise… Virtua Fighter 5 R! Much like how Tekken 5 had it’s “Dark Resurrection,” VF5 has it’s “R.” This latest announcement took place at AOU2008 in Japan. Aside from a tweaked game play system, VF5R also features at least one new character and the return of a sumo wrestling fighter! Could it be, Taka Arashi?!

Japan’s Xbox Live Marketplace will be getting a Virtua Fighter 5 demo later today! The demo features two modes (Arcade & Versus) and will allow you to play 4 different characters! Among them; Sarah Bryant and Akira Yuki… with newcomers Eileen and El Blaze! No word yet on whether American gamers will get a demo, but since the game is coming out here soon… I don’t see why there wouldn’t be one on the way… Enjoy!

Even though Reggie announced that Super Smash Bros. Brawl will hit Wii consoles this year…. Nintendo has decided to push back the release date to Feb. of next year! Sony is pulling the trigger and cutting the price of the PLAYSTATION 3 in North America! Sony is expected to make the official announcement at next week’s E3 Media Expo. Slated to start on the 15th of this month, the 60GB PS3 console will be $100 cheaper in the USA and $150 cheaper for Canadian residents. Early sales ads for next week have also confirmed a PS3 price drop for retailers like Circuit City and Best Buy. Expect the official announcement soon!

Compared to last week at least… Yesterday we received firmware 1.82 update which addresses AVC files for multimedia playback and today we got a bunch of new trailers and a new demo! Probably the most notable addition to the PSN is the new trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV in HD(see our previous article)! In addition to a couple of new movie trailers we finally got a new demo! Dynasty Warriors: GUNDAM(Gundam Musou in Japan)! Lastly Super Stardust HD is finally available for purchase! Go get it!
