Sony Steps Up To The Plate
Nestled in a labyrinth of twisted streets in the heart of Culver City, California, Sony Online Entertainment held its Gamer Day on Thursday to expound its plans and strategies for 2007. Sony Online Entertainment has expanded in recent months and is collaborating with other studios under the company’s influence to produce what will become the core of tomorrow’s online gaming paradigm. PC and PS3 owners alike can look forward to the features that Sony’s online plans can offer. The plan includes more than just new games. At the heart of this scheme is a means for connecting gamers everywhere, creating a decentralized network where people can communicate in and out of various game worlds. The scope of this project is ambitious, to be sure. Only time will tell whether Sony can keep the pressure on Microsoft and their Xbox Live network, which has had a full five-year head start on the online gaming industry since its beginnings in November of 2002.
